Visit Slovenia

The Republic of Slovenia is one of the countries of Eastern Europe with more extensive forests are causing many tourists that travel to Slovenia with the intention of meeting its environmental wealth.

However other aspects of the country have become outstanding tourism reasons such as culture, history and monuments and cities to be visited during the trip.

The present-day Slovenia was formed when in June 1991, became independent from Yugoslavia, following the armed conflict of the War of the ten days. But its history as a territory is much older and have been preserved prehistoric objects data and so-called culture of urnfield, and the Iron Age Hallstatt culture.

Written documents that have been recorded dating from the second century BC, by which it was known that there existed a kingdom known as the Kingdom of Noricum in the Eastern Alps and maintaining relations with the Romans to whom they sold iron material with which manufactured most of its weapons in the wars against the Celts. Later this kingdom would be associated to the Roman Empire but remain in many respects their autonomy while preserving their own social organisation until the fall of the Roman Empire. However also received many Roman influences that would help in expanding cities such as piping systems.

We came to Slovenia from Venice. We chose to do so by car because the train is quite complicated and if they make the journey by car is only 250 km of motorways, which we decided was the best option.

Slovenia was one of six constituent republics of Yugoslavia. Gained independence in 1991.
Austria is bordered to the north, south Croatia, Italy to the east and west with Hungary. Slovenia joined the European Union in 2004, and in 2007 adopted the Euro as currency.

The language is Slovene, but in the city all speak English. Gets a bit complicated on the outskirts of Ljubljana where he also handled Slovenian German, but it is harder to find people who speak English.

The capital of Slovenia is Ljubljana (Ljubljana is pronuncai). For me coming to this city was an excellent surprise, I knew it was a very nice place, but never expected to meet with a city and surroundings so shocking.
Surprised by the large number of restaurants and bars are located mainly on the banks of river. There you will find prices and styles of food. Normal working hours for dinner is around 21.00 pm, and bars are generally open until 1.00 pm.
