Holland and parts of Italy remained under Spanish control for hundreds of years. The eighteenth century and the access of the Bourbons to the Spanish throne brought the French influence.

The Prado is worth many visits, but if you only go once, do not miss the seventeenth-century Spanish works. This place has the world’s most important collection of Spanish paintings in history. It includes the masterpieces of Velasquez and Goya. It also features artwork foreign, especially Italian and Flemish.
